An Argentine burger joint has come under fire for using the Holocaust to markets its menu.
The tasteless listings drew the attention of the Jewish community in the Santa Fe town of Rafaela after the fast food restaurant, Honky Donky, posted them on its social media network.
The restaurant named one of its four hamburgers after Anne Frank, a German-born Jewish girl who famously kept a diary of her family’s persecution from the Nazis during the occupation in the in 1942.
Frank and her family were arrested in 1944 and taken to concentration camps.She was only 15 years old when she and her sister died at a concentration camp in Bergen-Belse in 1945.
The 3.5 ounce ‘Ana Frank’ burger featured bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles, and sold for almost $13.

Customers also were given the option of adding fries to their order.One of the choices was billed after Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.
The ‘Adolf’ potato fries had cheddar cheese, bacon and onions, and were listed slightly over $6.
The restaurant also named its sets of fries after Italian dictator Benito Mussolini; Genghis Kang, founder of the Mongol Empire; and Mao Tse Tung, the Chinese communist revolutionary leader.
The anti-Semitic menus drew the ire of the Rafaela Jewish Community.
‘In light of the fact that a fast food outlet in our city trivially uses the names of Anne Frank and Adolf to identify its products, the Rafaela Jewish Community expresses its deepest rejection and indignation, announcing that it will take the legal actions corresponding to the fact in question,’ the organization said on its official Facebook page.

Honky Donky’s management apologized for marketing its menu after a few controversial figures in world history and acknowledged that is ‘thinking about reinforcing our commitment to the values of defending human rights as unalterable principles for living in a just society and promoting a dignified life’
Honky Donky offered an apology and said that it had removed the controversial listings from the menu.
‘From our gastronomic venture we apologize for the offense and the lack of sense of responsibility for the misuse of names that refer to open wounds in humanity as a whole,’ the restaurant said.

‘The public reach that the news has gained in recent hours encourages us to continue thinking about reinforcing our commitment to the values of defending human rights as unalterable principles for living in a just society and promoting a dignified life,’ the statement added.
‘Irony and cynicism do not fit when it comes to understanding that there are limits, that not everything is the same, and that the request for forgiveness must be accompanied by an amendment to heal the damage caused.’
Honky Donky said that moving forward it will be using the names of figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Dalai Lama, Barack Obama, Mother Teresa Nelson Mandela, and Pope John II, all figures who fought for world peace and human rights, to market its products.
